Sponsorship

Dan Shi Martial Arts Club is pleased to offer the opportunity for individuals and groups to support the development of children and families within the community. Our sponsorship program allows you to assist in furthering the mission of Dan Shi by providing for the training and outfitting of students who would otherwise be unable to afford the tuition at Dan Shi. This program, along with our already low tuition costs, will enable entire families to attend Dan Shi classes together, building both individual character in the students and bonds of loyalty and respect between family members.

Dan Shi currently offers four different options for sponsorship. Three of the options allow you to sponsor an individual child in different ways, while the forth provides Dan Shi the opportunity to assist children at times when no new sponsors are available.

Full Sponsorship
Full sponsorship allows you to fully support an individaul child's training from his/her first day at Dan Shi. You will provide the $20 monthly tuition fee, along with purchasing a uniform and set of safety gear at wholesale cost for use by the child. Tuition support continues as long as you are able and the child continues to show acceptable growth at home, at school, and in the martial arts.

Support Sponsorship
This sponsorship allows you to provide ongoing support for an individaul child's training at Dan Shi. You will provide the $20 monthly tuition fee, allowing the child to continue his/her training at Dan Shi. Tuition support continues as long as you are able and the child continues to show acceptable growth at home, at school, and in the martial arts.

Initial Sponsorship
This sponsorship enables a child to begin his/her training with Dan Shi. Your sponsorship will purchase the school a set of equipment, including uniform, chestpad, protective headgear, arm guards, and leg guards at wholesale cost. The child will be given the use of this set of equipment until such a time as they physically grow out of the gear, at which time it will be used by another, younger student. The uniform will belong to the student, but may be sold back to Dan Shi for use by another student when it's time for a child to buy a bigger uniform.

Pool Sponsorship
Pool sponsorship allows Dan Shi to cover situations where a sponsor is unable to continue their ongoing sponsorship by establishing a pool of money to support students in their training. Example uses of this pool include: paying a student's tuition until another sponsor can be found, assisting a student with purchasing a new, larger uniform after growing out of one, or replacing worn out or damaged gear. This pool may also be used to provide sponsored children with special opportunities they otherwise would be unable to afford, such as viewing or competing in local tournaments, or participating in events such as Master Crays' Break-a-thon.

Student Obligtions

Good Academic Grades
Academics are a discipline of the mind, and very important. Tae Kwon Do enhances the ability to focus and obtain discipline, but the required academics of school are the first priority and must be maintained.

Attendance
Attendance to Tae Kwon Do classes are extremely important for consistent training. Poor attendance shows either a lack of commitment or a need to prioritize goals. Any student that is sponsored needs to show a full commitment to their instructor and mentor. A minimum of six classes a month is considered acceptable.

Attitude
Development of a martial artist attitude should always be the highest goal for each student. A true martial artist does not have to be the best performer, have the best technique, or be the fastest student. However, they should always maintain respect, focus, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and an indomitable spirit. A continual growth to that goal should be observed throughout the student's training.
